Port Ghalib City Tour
A RISING STAR ON THE RED SEA

Port Ghalib’s transformation—from windswept desert to arguably the most luxurious marina on Egypt’s Red Sea coast—is nothing short of remarkable. So remarkable, in fact, that The New York Times named it one of the world’s top 41 must-see destinations back in January 2011, placing it at an impressive 24th. That ranking put it well ahead of Budapest (40th) and Miami (41st). The “ugly sisters,” Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada, weren’t even mentioned.
Equally enthusiastic was Chris Johns of Britain’s Sunday People newspaper, who lavished praise on the Port Ghalib complex in 2009, then only in its early stages of development, noting that ‘with its beautiful architecture and canals, it reminded me of Venice – a weird comparison given that it was on the edge of the desert.’1
GETTING THERE – GREAT VALUE!
How to get there ? Port Ghalib is located on the Red Sea coast just 3 km from Marsa Alam’s international airport (for air connections see our flights page.) It lies 65 km North of the town of Marsa Alam and 73 km south of the old port town of El Quseir.
